Canan COŞKUN GÜLEÇ

I graduated from Bilkent University, Department of International Relations in 2002. After graduation, Turkey's targets towards full membership to the European Union, made me decide to specialize in this area. I chose the European Studies Program at Istanbul Bilgi University, which is one of the few prestigious universities offering a master program in this field in Istanbul at that time, because of its comprehensive curriculum and close cooperation with Leiden University in the Netherlands.

The European Studies program has given me a comprehensive perspective on the political, economic and legal aspects of the EU, the area I plan to specialize in. Our academic staff and program coordinators, who also provide endless support in terms of guidance and coaching, have enabled me to look at the rising opportunities in my education and career life with a different vision. Thus, in 2004, I was awarded a Jean Monnet Scholarship and received a LL.M degree in European Community Law at the University of Leiden, Netherlands. At the end of the one-year master program, I had the opportunity to participate in a unique 5-month internship program at the General Directorate of Research and Technology Development of the European Commission in Brussels.

After 4.5 years of European Union-related, consultancy-based experience, I continue to work as the Corporate Communications Unit Manager in the energy sector, which is one of the sectors I use to give consultancy.
